Josian Citrin

Josiah Citrin is a proud Los Angeles beach kid. The lifelong surfer grew up in Santa Monica and Venice, and of course, both of his restaurants are there too: the venerated, two Michelin-starred, Melisse, and the laid-back, backyard barbecue-inspired, Charcoal. Josiah’s playlist is a mix of classics, both old and new, including tracks from David Bowie, The Clash, Snoop Dogg and Wilson Pickett. He also provided us notes with some of his picks. Here are a few of our favorites:

Bob Marley, “Jamming” - “I used to listen to this on my way to go surfing in Malibu in the
summer of ‘83.”

Green Day, “Longview” - “The family was driving to Mammoth with my son who was about 12 years old at the time. He played this on loop for two hours straight. It’s a memory that always makes me smile.”

Tom Waits, “Heartattack and Vine” - “Reminds me of roaming the streets of Paris in the early morning.”

Led Zeppelin, “What is and What Should Never Be” - “It gives me inspiration to keep pushing.”
