Katie Button

Trailblazing chef, Katie Button, cut her teeth under the tutelage of two of the culinary world’s most innovative and envelope-pushing talents, Ferran Adrià and José Andrés. She’s now made Asheville, NC, a must-visit for gastronomes and gourmands with her award-winning restaurants, Cúrate Bar de Tapas and Nightbell.

Katie’s proud of living in the Appalachians, and her playlist is a musical homage to her hometown featuring a stellar lineup of indie rockers, including The National, The Flaming Lips, Bloc Party and Pixies.

“One thing about living in Asheville is that we get to experience great music,”  Katie told us. “We have some amazing venues like the Orange Peel and the Grey Eagle, among many others, where you get to be up close and right in front of the bands that you love, or discover new ones. This list I put together is a representation of all the live music I have seen since moving to Asheville. Many of the artists on their way through town have come in to eat at the restaurants, giving us a chance to appreciate them for what they do. The National came in to eat at Cúrate, and then during their concert in town, dedicated the song ‘Sea of Love’ to us. Archers of Loaf is a North Carolina band, and the bassist is from Asheville. I've been listening to them since I was in high school, and watching them play has been a serious highlight for me. This list is also a good representation of me and what I like to listen to and why I love living here. What can I say, I love this mountain town.”
